English
Mathita, joined with sugar, mixed with cardamom powder, and fumigated with camphor smoke, is called by the name majjikā.
A sweet, cardamom-scented buttermilk drink. Buttermilk is hard to find where I am, so I substituted Greek yoghurt thinned with water to the consistency I wanted and sweetened to taste. I have not yet found camphor that I trust to eat.
Ingredients
- 500 ml fresh buttermilk
- 40 g sugar
- ½ tsp ground cardamom
- Optional: a speck of food-grade edible camphor
Method
- Whisk the buttermilk with the sugar and cardamom until the sugar dissolves.
- Add the smallest possible speck of edible camphor if using.
- Chill well and serve.
